Toyota and Cargo Bikes

The new Toyota Camry commercial sucks. A bit too drastic? Too caustic? No.

It is a 60 second commercial that shares the highlights of the new Camry which, basically, amounts to having a computer that can perform all of the social needs of the driver: making restaurant reservations; purchasing tickets; and listening to Pandora.

It is the last one that got me complaining to my wife. My tirade in a nutshell--Really? Is THIS the best that Toyota has to offer? When Toyota could share an increase in gas mileage, or safety features; or greater carrying capacity, the commercial's focus is superficial. It is lame. It basically says, "We had nothing more we could do to our car so we threw in some bells and whistles."

After quietly listening to my rant, my wife turned to me and said that this sounds familiar.

I thought, but I could not think of it. Then she told me that it reminded her of the Oregon Manifest Ultimate Utility Bike Challenge. The new Toyota which is nothing special, but can stream music and if memory serves, that was the deciding factor for the Ultimate Utility Bike.

Snap!

I know. I said I would not bring it up again, but this was just too good.

View this Toyota commercial and be amazed at how something as silly as a "radio" is the selling point for a $20,000 car. Be amazed at how prominently displayed Pandora is.
