The Kidical Mass kids will love being able to use their bird feeders right away with your seed present. (Nice word use.)

Hans ... I heard you like Bullitt dogs
Thanks to Phil Ross, of Meteofiets, for the shot. Bleu, the dog, and I stopped by Phil's house to get a hard drive for Liz Canning's cargo bike crowdsourced documentary.
It's #FilmFebruary. Have you filmed your cargobikeness? If not, get on it.
Bleu was smug
Bleu and I went on a ride today.
We rode by a car.
The car had a dog.
The dog's head was sticking out of the window.
Bleu laughed and took in a deep breath of air.
He knew who had it best.
Bleu was smug.

YUBA Wondering
Took a family ride today to SCRAP. It is a nice ride and there is always something cool at SCRAP.
This is also the route we will take next weekend for kidicalMass and I wanted to ride it again to check for any changes.
Asha rode on the Yuba. Ruhiyyih, of course, pulled the Yuba out of the garage, causing me to wonder again, is the a cargo bike platform that appeals to one gender? Or is the appeal based on exposure, access, or city terrain?
Does one gender prefer Long Johns or Long Tails? You have noticed it haven't you?
BikePortland and CargoBikes

I have noticed a few cargo bikes in the BikePortland header. This time, an orange trike. Last time, a light blue Madsen with child, being pedaled by adult.
When I head over to BikePortland to read and the first thing I see is a cargo bike, I smile.
Thanks, Jonathan.

KidicalMass February

The third Saturday of the month is coming up. That means KIDICALMASS!
For February, the group is going to the birds ... rather, going to SCRAP to make bird houses for the birds.
BRING: a milk carton or other such item to be the bird house structure.
SOCIALIZE: at the Wittwer house at Noon for breakfast eats and drinks. Want to bring something special? Cool. Otherwise we will have a selection of pastries and fruit.
HEAD OUT: at 1:30 for SCRAP. We will follow all traffic signs and lights. We ride at a slow, kid-friendly pace.
CREATE: using SCRAP's wonderful assortment of supplies, create one-of-a-kind, sure-to-please-the-birds, bird houses. There will be a person on hand to share bird knowledge.
As of this point, the Mayor has not verified his attendance. The staffer who stated conclusively that he wanted to and would attend, did not organize with the mayor's other staffers, and as a result the mayor's attendance has been changed from "YES!" to "would like to". Sadly, I have not heard back from the staffer. However, I am still holding out that the decencies of human respect will prevail and the staffer will email me back with updated information.
But I will not hold my breath. I presume that the staffer made a mistake and is embarrassed about it which is why the staffer has not contacted me, and why I had to learn of the mayor change through Bike Portland.

Blur

Ethan Jewett replied with the shot on the left. And Joel Grover replied with the middle shot.
I can see a whole series of these. It would be a nice collage. What can you tell about the rider based on this focused shot, and the details in the box area?
Share yours.
See more in TRANSPORTland.

Film February
The crowdsource documentary (R)evolutions Per Minute is a film in which I believe. It is also a film I want to see. Help me see this movie. You wouldn't deny my four sons the chance to see this movie would you?
Liz Canning is the brains and talent behind the project.
BUT SHE NEEDS YOU.
You. Yes, you. And your friend ... and while you are at it, grab your neighbor!
The project needs film from you. It does not matter the quality of the film, how shaky it is, or whether or not you consider your rig a cargo bike. Film yourself. Film as much cargo-bike-ness as you can and send it off to her. See Liz's FAQ page for more.
Liz can edit anything and make it look beautiful. Have you seen the trailer? I can see some of the footage my friends and I took and it looks better than when we took it. How is that possible? Magic.
Please do the following:
- Film and send it to Liz.
- Tell every cargo bike loving individual in your social network (online as well) to film in February.
- Post on your blog, encouraging your readers.
- FILM
Don't worry about the following:
- Decent equipment. Your phone, camera, loaf-of-bread sized video camera from 1992 are all fine. Editing is an art and Liz can make your footage work.
- Editing. Don't. That is Liz's job. She can edit. Just send her raw, unedited footage. It does not get any easier than that.
- How to get the footage to Liz. There are several options: email, online drop box, send a data DVD, and some cities have a circulating hard drive.
- What to shoot. You shoot you. Take video of you doing your daily cargo bike things. Think all of the things that you tell people when they ask you why you have a cargo bike and that is what you film.
- Busy lives. I have a busy life as well. I have 4 kids and I teach full-time and have 3 side projects going. If you have opted to use a cargo bike in your daily life, it is likely that your life is not as busy as you think. Weave the filming into your activity for the day. I am going to pick of a bale of hay this weekend. Guess what I am going to do? YEP...I am going to film it!
